R U OK?
At Kaimera, we believe that our strength lies in the connections we build with one another, not just as colleagues but as people. R U OK? Day is a vital reminder that a simple question can make a big difference in someone’s life. It’s about taking a moment to reach out to people around us – whether it be a friend, family member or someone you work with – and simply asking “Are you OK?”.
One of the key messages of R U OK? Day is that it’s OK to not be OK. By recognising this, we let each other know that it’s okay to speak up, to have bad days, and to ask for help when needed. It’s a simple way to show that we care and consider mental health to be just as important as physical health. Checking in with each other isn’t just a one-day event and whilst it’s easy to get caught up in our own routines and responsibilities, taking that extra moment to reach out reminds people that they’re not alone.
When we openly discuss mental health, we help reduce the stigma that often prevents people from reaching out. It’s about creating a culture where vulnerability is important, that it’s OK to not have all the answers or know how to have the perfect conversations – but the effort of being there for someone is enough.
Kaimera Living the R U OK? Message
Don’t wait for the perfect moment; if you notice someone might need it, just ask, “Are you OK?”. Sometimes, all they need is to be heard. Be there to listen, not to fix.
Let’s also make checking in a regular habit, not just on R U OK? Day. A quick chat or message can make a big difference on any day of the year.
At Kaimera, we are committed to fostering a workplace where everyone feels supported, seen, and valued. R U OK? Day is a reminder of the impact of support and that it’s always ok to not be ok.
As part of this commitment, our Head of Investment, Marianne took part in Out of the Shadows and walked 9km for the 9 Australians lost to suicide every day.
