Creativity Art Workshop
At Kaimera, we believe that creativity isn’t just a buzzword—it’s a vital tool that drives innovation and fresh thinking in everything we do. That’s why we try to regularly step out of our usual routines and dive into creative workshops. These sessions aren’t just about fun (although they definitely are); they’re about reconnecting with the basics, pushing boundaries, and seeing the world through a different lens. Because in media, just like in art, it’s often the unexpected approaches that lead to the best results.
Last week, a group of 10 TKGers took a break from SMD and picked up some pens, paints, and pastel crayons for a creative workshop hosted by Myself and Lucas, the resident artists.
Kicking things off with a bit of art history, and a lovely little inspiring introduction (Lucas is one with his words), we got straight into warm-up exercises which were meant to test both coordination and creativity. Followed by drawing with a different part of the body? Not as easy as you think. Swapping your masterpiece with the person next to you mid-sketch? Hilarious to watch, but surprisingly revealing.
All these exercises were set to make everyone think outside of the box, introducing these different approaches creates and opens a new way of thinking. Approaches that can be implemented into everyday tasks in Media.
Finally, they were set loose to create an artwork inspired by flowers, in the medium of choice—watercolours, pen, or pastels. No time limits, no rules. And this is where things got really interesting. It was fascinating to see how differently everyone approached the same task, implementing some of the tricks they learned in the warm-up, some went bold and abstract, while others got lost in the details, all the creativity that emerged was pure gold.
So, how does this relate back to media? It’s all about perspective. Sometimes, we’re so focused on the strategy, the data, the deadlines, that we forget to let ourselves step back and just create. This workshop reminded us that when you approach a challenge with fresh eyes and a bit of creative freedom, the results can be incredible.
Lesson learned: sometimes, getting back to basics and embracing a new way of thinking is exactly what we need to unlock our best ideas. Plus, it's a lot of fun too.
