We are proud to support the charity Musicians Making a Difference (MMAD), who use the power of music, dance and mentoring to make a real difference in the lives of young people.
They have been working away on a powerful new podcast series ‘Music Saved Me’ featuring musicians Paul Dempsey, Illy, GRAACE and more, in the lead up to Musicians Making A Difference Day on Friday, December 4th.
In this series of down to earth interviews hosted by respected music personality Danny Clayton, some of Australia’s well known and emerging music artists engage in raw, relatable and compelling conversations about how music has helped them survive. Music Saved Me explores how music has supported artists through dark times, how the power of music has helped them and how the songs they have written or listened to have impacted them.
Music Saved Me debuts with four episodes – Conrad Sewell, GRAACE, Mitch Tambo and empowering MMAD graduate, Paz. Each episode touches on different topics: Conrad Sewell opens up about his struggles with addiction and how music has him helped deal with them; GRAACE reveals for the first time how grief and loss has affected her life and how she uses music to help her, Mitch Tambo talks culture, language and the importance of preservation in music before MMAD Paz dives into her struggles with overcoming homelessness and how creative focus helped her.
On creating the Music Saved Me podcast, Musicians Making A Difference (MMAD) Co-Founder Dominic Brook said: “It’s been a really difficult year for so many people, and we need these open and honest conversations more than ever. We were blown away by how much each artist brought to their chat with Danny and opening up about such personal stories. It really is a special insight into these artists and how or why their art is shaped and created. We hope this podcast can inspire people out there who might be going through a tough time right now and help them realise they are not alone.”
